Life is easy lately. And I maintain that it stays easy as long as I'm open to living it. It seems like every whim I follow through with leads to interesting/awesome opportunities. That openness--that's the key. Maybe I'm a romantic at heart and this is the spring talking through me, but I've never felt more in control and at peace with my life than right now (and I've been saying that for the past fourteen nights).
I printed my bear comic as Evening Comics and sold it at the Cathedral Village Arts Festival with my brother under the name Dentist Brothers. We pushed an old pram filled with our comics through the crowds at the street festival and had fair reception. As part of printing this comic, I wanted to include a website link for myself for networking/fun, so I have a website now. It's still in it's beta really and incomplete, but the bones are there and it's nice just to have something up. Check it out if you care to and send me any thoughts/feedback: www.jonahmcfadzean.com.
I read somewhere that in this technological world, it's important to protect your identity by registering websites and at social sites and stuff. It makes sense to have my name as my URL, but it still seems a bit weird to be a dot com now.
I've been trying to be more outgoing and social in the real world as well (part of my 'be open to life' philosophy) and it's been making good. My time has been spent solidly with good friends, old friends, and new friends, and my regular social anxieties are under control for a change. I'm operating under the idea that I should only be doing things that I want to do/have fun doing. And honestly, I've been happier and much more responsible.

my nature
I am a creature of habit. Anything that upsets my regular comings and goings causes me great stress. If it persists (or given a period of adjustment) I grow to accept and enjoy the new addition to my routine. If the new addition ceases, I grow upset and must readjust. I still don't know what my routine is made up of, but I sure as hell know when it is altered in any way.

morning coffee
I went out for a walk this morning and I met the eyes of a guy sitting on his stoop as we were both wordlessly mouthing the lyrics to the music we were listening to.

an update
Less often posting is usually a good sign of productivity. This is the case with my past week anyway. Comic convention was helpful for unloading wares and wound up being a pretty fun day hanging with comic-friends. My brother and I put out a new "Pasqua Pennysaver" for the occasion (a free, one-page comic usually left at coffee shops, but not yet available online), and I've been scanning like crazy since buying a new scanner, which will hopefully be enough of a push to get me online where I will offer comics and art and laughs and joy and technology.
I've been sleeping less since it's getting nicer out and that's definitely a good thing. I'm tired, but trying to force my internal clock to love it. I've also been listening a lot to the album theFREEhoudini by Themselves, which is quickly becoming a favourite listen.
At the same time, I took in some Jane's walks today, and during one stumbled across a baby rabbit. Full of vegan guilt and drunkened by it's radiating babiness, I adopted (kidnapped?) it and now have another rabbit. I don't know, it was small and in the middle of a parking lot, and my protective instincts kicked in, so there's that. It's currently living at my parents' house, safely away from Lilly the puppy and Robert the other rabbit. It's quite young though, so I really hope it survives, especially since it's more than likely to actually be a hare.
Seriously, I'm not made of stone.
And this is my dog Lilly.

So to recap: art, music, animals.

Evening of Comics.
I inked 18 pages today. Now it was mostly line work, and for a mini-sized comic, but that doesn't lessen the feat.
Today actually felt like spring. Maybe it was walks around the Cathedral neighbourhood with pals, or crushing on a new coffee shop girl (barista babe?), or chasing the Lily puppy around my parents' back yard, but it felt good. I hibernate through winter (which amounts to about five months of the year here in Saskatchewan) and I run with a vengence through the rest of the year.
This comic is being thrown together in anticipation of the Cathedral Village Arts Festival wherein my brother and I will load an old baby pram up with comics and tour around the neighbourhood hocking our comicbook-wares. Also, the Queen City Comics festival is next week or something, so it would be benneficial to have new comics. I do wish I wouldn't drag my feet so much with my websites and stuff. It irks me that I have no website to note in this comic, though I'm loathe to register a domain just for the sake of it.

Twenty-Three Years
Today is my birthday. I am happy and excited for the year to come. I had a much needed conversation with my brother about comics, games, and girls. An optimistic outlook on life is not a bad way to start one's twenty-third year alive.
